We’re in the heart of food truck season in Central New York, and in case you missed it, there are now two weekly rodeo spots in town.

The newer one, already several weeks old, is behind the Missio Church at 620 W. Genesee St. Trucks are parked in the lot out back from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Thursday. Tables and chairs are provided.

Several trucks participate –among the regulars are Tortilla Jacks, featuring tacos and other Mexican-style favorites, and Oompa Loompyas, offering Filipino food including the Phillipines take on egg rolls, lumpias.

Others in the Thursday rotation include Toss ‘n’ Fire (wood-fired pizzas), PB&J’s Lunch Box, Shattuck’s Paddy Wagon, Unity Coffee Company and Mami’s Kitchen.

The other big lunchtime rodeo is held each Wednesday next to the Cosmopolitan Building, 1153 W. Fayette St. (just west of Geddes Street). It typically gathers about a half dozen trucks, starting at 11 a.m.

Here’s our pre-season guide to food trucks in Syracuse.

Remember, food trucks are mobile — so they may be in new spots on any given day. Many are showing up at local farmers markets, so keep an eye out. It’s best to follow them on Facebook to be sure. Also follow the Syracuse Food Truck Association for events and rodeos.
