Half of the six food trucks that were forced to move to make way for the JW Marriott Hotel on Second Street and Congress Avenue remain homeless.
The Belgian Waffle Co., which had to close regular operations for a while, moved to a variety of locations ranging from the farmer’s market in Cedar Park to a spot in San Antonio.
Chi’lantro and Snap Kitchen are both still working to find new downtown locations.
The trucks were very popular with the downtown weekday lunch crowd.
As reported in this week’s issue of the Austin Business Journal, prime space for food trucks downtown is growing scarce as development ramps up.
Patika Coffee and Turf N Surf Po’Boys relocated to a parking lot on Fourth Street and Congress Avenue, while Kebabalicious faced some initial challenges when it moved to a lot further north on Seventh Street and Congress Avenue.
