CAPE ELIZABETH – Bite into Maine food truck, located in Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth, home of the Portland Headlight, was one of 20 restaurants selected from across the country to battle it out in New York City on June 6 for the title of America’s favorite lobster roll.

Tickets are almost sold out for the Tasting Table’s annual “Lobster Roll Rumble.” Each competitor will be serving 1,300 lobster rolls in one night.

Bite into Maine is the smallest competitor ever invited to the event. Despite their size, they have earned a reputation for the quality and originality of their six lobster roll styles, ranging from traditional Maine style served with mayo, to wasabi, chipotle, and curry. Owners Sarah and Karl Sutton will now need to assemble a team and travel to New York City to compete for the title.

Bite into Maine will be entering itsthird season at historic Fort Williams Park. Initially they attempted to start a food truck in Portland, only to discover that the Portland ordinance did not allow units larger then a pushcart at the time. They turned their focus to a more downsized version in Cape Elizabeth when Fort Williams decided to accept proposals for food vendors in 2011. They operate at the park’s largest permitted size, 72 square feet.

Bite into Maine has launched a crowd funding Kickstarter campaign to help pay for their travel and expenses to compete in New York City.
