GREEN BAY, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News)  Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race” will apparently not be stopping in Green Bay any time soon. The Common Council has delayed a proposal to let food trucks operate on city streets. It voted 7-to-4 this week to send the measure back to a committee.

Right now food trucks can only operate on private property in Green Bay.

City staffers proposed the idea of allowing them on the streets, with a goal of bringing more people downtown. Alderman Guy Zima said more food trucks would hurt the restaurant business, but Alderman Randy Scannell said it would help everyone by getting more people out. Under the proposal, food trucks could operate no closer than 150-feet of brick-and-mortar restaurants.
