HAMPTON — The Varsity food truck was spotted Monday in Hampton with a mile-long line of patrons waiting to partake in Moye’s Pharmacy’s monthly customer appreciation event.
Not only is The Varsity an 85-year-old dining staple in the Atlanta community, it’s the largest drive-in worldwide.
Moye’s Pharmacy has been serving Henry County since 1977 so it’s no wonder these two organizations would partner for an event of this nature.
While the food truck revolution is becoming more and more commonplace, there’s something special about this truck in particular, representatives said.
“People love it,” said Dan Sierra, merchandising specialist. “There’s something about an 85-year-old man in overalls eating a chili dog who hasn’t had The Varsity in 50 years — it’s the nostalgia.”
Phil Hopkins, Moye’s lead pharmacist, said that the food truck will be a recurring feature on the first Monday of every month.
The truck will rotate locations, with the next stop being the Hudson Bridge location. In September, it will be featured at the north McDonough Store.
