The City of Huntsville is making moves to be more food truck-friendly.

Currently, food trucks are not allowed in Research Park, but that could change. Research Park is a no food truck zone because of current rules on the book.

Thursday, City Council made moves to change that. They scheduled a public hearing to discuss allowing food trucks to operate in the area.

“Huntsville is in the right step, moving at its own pace and there’s plenty of events going on so it’s always good,” said Jason Lafferty, owner of Food Fighters Bustaurant.

He said he’s happy to see efforts being made to open up the market.

“There’s a lot of trucks around so we’ll be able to spread out a little bit,” Lafferty said.

The public hearing is set for August 27.
