ROSEMEAD – The city will hold its second “Munch for the Memorial” food truck festival this weekend to raise funds for a Sept. 11 memorial project.
The two-day event will feature more than 20 popular gourmet food trucks – including the Nom Nom Truck. White Rabbit, King Kone and the Mighty Boba trucks will host eating contests in which participants can compete for food truck gift certificates.
Food trucks will donate 15 percent of each day’s proceeds towards Rosemead’s Sept. 11 memorial project.
Rosemead will commemorate the events of Sept. 11 with the creation of a 10th anniversary memorial, which incorporates an artifact from the World Trade Center. A portion of the artifact will be on display at Munch for the Memorial.
The memorial will be located at Rosemead City Hall and unveiled on September 11, 2011. Munch for the Memorial is one of several events planned to help raise the $60,000 needed to complete the memorial.
The food truck event is slated for Saturday, May 21, from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 22, from noon to 6 p.m. in the UFC Gym parking lot, 8920 Glendon Way.
Admission to the event is free. Free parking will be available at UFC Gym and in the southwest corner lot of the Rosemead Place (Target) retail center.
