The popular San Antonio food truck and catering business The Box Street Social is ready to set down roots.
Box Street owner Daniel Treviño said he’s signed a lease on a 3,600-square-foot space in the forthcoming mixed-use development The ’68, which is currently under construction at Hemisfair. The new restaurant will feature a 5,000-square-foot patio with a view of the Tower of the Americas and other Hemisfair landmarks.
Treviño, along with operating partner and chef Edward Garcia III, hopes to open the brick-and-mortar restaurant in April.
The Box Street Social has built a strong following with its eclectic menu of pulled pork- and spicy crab-stuffed avocados, Thai chile wings, bacon jam sliders, chicken and doughnuts and other dishes. Treviño said the brick-and-mortar version of his restaurant would continue serving many of those items with a more polished sit-down presentation, along with new dishes.
The Box Street Social food truck and catering business will continue operating after the new restaurant opens, Treviño said. More at 210-920-1602, theboxstreetsocial.com or Facebook: @theboxstreetsocial.
