An ordinance to govern the placement of food trucks in the downtown was requested by the City Council's Ordinance and Rules Committee following a public meeting that drew supporters and critics of the mobile eateries.
The business will only be here until October. It has no restrooms, and any “graywater,” usually dishwater, is picked up by a weekly service.
A key portion of debate focused on customer access to restrooms, with council members finally settling on amendments that would require vendors seek written permission from the nearest business with a restroom available for their customers.
Staff has proposed requiring one bathroom and two bicycle parking spaces, however, the council raised some concern about having enough bathroom space.
Krider expressed concern that trucks could become a blight on the city.
