Vancouver’s expanded street vending program that started last year has dramatically changed Kerfoot’s business. Until last year, 90 per cent of Apollo Carts’ sales were to the U.S. Now, it’s 60 per cent Vancouver and 40 per cent U.S.
Vancouver will announce the newest 19 vendors to its street food program on April 4. They were chosen last week from a list of 52 by a panel of chefs, business people, community activists and food bloggers.
A program review and staff report on the three-year pilot program originally billed as the way to spice up the city’s street food scene will be on the April 20 agenda of Mayor Rob Ford’s powerful executive committee.
