Tampa, FL: Food Trucks Rolling Through Tampa Bay Area

Lovers of mobile eateries have plenty of options to satisfy their hunger for meals on wheels this weekend, as three new food truck events roll into the Tampa Bay area.

From 6 to 10 tonight, the Brews & Bites Food Truck Rally is at the Sail Pavilion on the Riverwalk, adjacent to the Tampa Convention Center.

The rally features food trucks along the Hillsborough River, live music from musician Roberto Debourg and a beer garden serving up craft beers. The event is scheduled to continue on the second Friday of each month throughout 2013.

On Saturday, the Bearss Groves produce market is hosting the Next Gen Gourmet Food Truck Festival at 14316 Lake Magdalene Blvd., Tampa. The festival, which runs from noon to 5 p.m., will feature 13 food trucks, as well as other vendors and activities for children.

The University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus is hosting a food truck rally as a “welcome back” to students returning for the spring semester. The rally is open to the public and will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at the corner of 2nd Street and 6th Avenue in St. Petersburg.

That rally, organized by Tasting Tampa Bay, will feature nine trucks offering items such as gourmet meatballs, barbecue, arepas and cupcakes.
