Temple (January 23, 2016) A new tasty food truck event tempting people to head downtown in Temple lifted off Saturday afternoon.

Esteban Guzman knows a thing or two about hot dogs.

“I carry beef hot dogs. I’ve got jumbo dogs that are all beef. I’ve got Polish saugages that are spicy and beef,” said Guzman.

But that’s not all.

“I do like the Chicago dog, the chili dog that is pretty common, the jalisco dog, the reuben dog, the pastrami dog, the dogzilla,” said Guzman.

The owner of “Stevie’s Red Hot Wienies” set up shop at the first ever “Food Truck Frenzy” in downtown Temple Friday.

“It’s not only good for business; it gets my name out there. It’s good for the local area,” said Guzman.

And that’s the whole reason city leaders came up with the idea.

“The goal of this was to bring people and famiies back to downtown Temple and let them see what we have to offer down here,” said Downtown Development Coordinator Debbie Charbonneau.

Trucks serving anything from cajun plates, to ethnic food from Guam came to showcase their dishes for the large crowd.

“I need more tables and chairs next month,” said Charbonneau.

David bradford could barely keep up in his mobile sandwich shop.

“We’re enjoying it. Busy, busy, busy but enjoying it,” said Bradford.

A feeling many folks echoed.

“I think it’s a great thing. It’s just something fun and something we don’t get to do a lot,” said a couple attending the event..

“It’s just something good, fun, family entertainment,” said one family.

A good deal for everyone involved.

The event will be held every 4th Saturday of each month from 11:00 to 3:00 in the City Hall parking lot off Main Street.
