San Francisco photographer Michael Soo of Soo Photography recently completed a photo shoot for the Le Bon de Cuisine food truck in San Jose and gives his take on the fine art of food photography.

San Jose, CA – San Francisco food photographer Michael Soo always has is finger on the pulse of what’s hot now. He knows the days that foodies looked down their noses at food trucks are gone for good which is why he was so eager to work with the most buzzed about specialty food trucks in the South Bay.

“I’ve photographed thousands of dishes during my 8 years as a food photographer, but this last photo shoot with Le Bon de Cuisine was a special one,” said Michael Soo. “The owner of the food truck and soon-to-be restaurant is so young, but he makes amazing food with such a worldly flair.”

Le Bon de Cuisine is the “Moveable Feast” mobile palate pleaser brought to the Bay Area cities of San Jose, San Francisco and Palo Alto by owner and executive chef Jeffrey Nguyen, a 20-year-old classically trained culinary mastermind.

With the opening of Le Bon de Cuisine’s permanent residence in San Jose just a month away, Nguyen called on the professional photography services of Michael Soo to deliver delicious images to the front page of the restaurant’s website, menu and marketing materials. Le Bon is located at 5592 Santa Teresa Blvd. in San Jose.

Food stylist Randy Mon helped Soo create a classic, simple and elegant theme for the photographs, with sleek white linen tablecloths and bright backgrounds to complement the style of the restaurant.

After choosing one simple, yet stand-out element of each dish, Soo snapped away at scrumptious dishes like a juicy 1/3-pound cheeseburger nestled atop caramelized onions, savory garlic noodles complete with sautéed shrimp, and a Vietnamese-style pork belly sandwich filled with Asian sauerkraut and wrapped in a soft and crunchy bahn mi.

Nguyen’s inspiration for his dishes stems from his time as a student at The French Culinary Institute of San Jose (formerly the Professional Culinary Institute), where he won a culinary competition at the young age of 17 years old that helped fund his cuisine dream.
