BALTIMORE, Md. (CBSDC) – Have you ever noticed the relationship between Baltimore and D.C. feels a bit like a sibling rivalry? Now the two brothers are fighting in the kitchen, only, that kitchen is the outdoors.
The Maryland Mobile Food Vendors Association is set to host “A Taste of Two Cities”, a food truck rally featuring 20 food trucks from Baltimore and 20 food trucks from Washington, D.C.
The competition is aimed at showcasing on a regional level, the country’s food truck industry which is, in the words of Chef Ruddell-Tabisola, “creating jobs and providing cities that embrace food trucks, opportunities for economic growth”.
Chef Ruddell-Tabisola who serves as the Executive Director of the D.C. Food Trucks Association says, “The event also celebrates one of our chief values and hallmarks of the food truck industry – community – with a little friendly competition.”
“A Taste of Two Cities” will be held on Saturday, June 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in at the Westport Waterfrontin South Baltimore, about 10 minutes from Federal Hill. Westport Waterfront is accessible via Baltimore’s Light Rail system by exiting at the Westport Station stop (south of the Hamburg Street stop which serves M&T Bank Stadium).
The day-long festivities will feature food and drinks from the top food trucks in the region in addition to live entertainment from local bands.
More importantly, the competition will settle the age-old question: Which city is the best?
Local celebrity judges will be hosting and assisting the crowd in determining the winner, so put on for your city. Organizers are hoping to generate enough popularity in the event to be able to make it an annual affair.
“This event will determine once and for all whether our nation’s capital or the city that successfully defended it two hundred years ago has bragging rights as the best mobile gastronomic offerings,” says one spokesperson.
