Food trucks are everywhere, and what everyone thought was a mere trend is here to stay. That is, “the best” gourmet food trucks are here to stay.
A city known for its outstanding, world-class cuisine, New York is expected to have some of the best food trucks in the country – and they do!
Here are Bangstyle’s top 5, but we’re always open to being introduced (read: convinced) on new trucks at any time. The following trucks have loyal followers and with good reason…
#1. GO Burger – If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em – BLT Restaurant is peddling high-end cuisine on wheels! Kobe hot dogs, classic burgers made from sirloin, short ribs, brisket, and chuck…are you kidding me? You want it? Go down to South Street Seaport – they’re parked there daily.
#2. The Bistro Truck – Setting up in Union Square, this is one of the few trucks that can do Mediterranean food right! From their famous bistro burger to the Tangiers, this truck is truly world class. And don’t forget to try the Moroccan mint tea.
#3. Patty’s Tacos – Mexico City-born Patricia Monroy keeps the food coming until the wee hours of the morning. Serving up generous portions of authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the real deal! No Mexi-Cali or Tex-Mex here. You’ll be happy sharing a “crazy burrito” or tempted to try Patty’s tender tongue tacos. They say you’ll forget it’s tongue, it’s that good.
#4. Rickshaw Dumpling Truck – This little red truck offers high-priced steamed dumplings and is well worth the splurge. They’re serving Chinese dumplings made of chicken and Thai basil, pork and Chinese chive, and edamame to hungry pedestrians.
#5. The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck – Owner-chef Doug Quint’s tricked-out Mister Softee truck cannot be missed! Once you ride the rainbow, you’ll become addicted to the crazy flavors Quint is bound to come up with. Where else can one get chocolate, soft-serve ice cream with caramelized bacon?
Although this is just scratching the surface of the food truck posse out there, these are some of the best and definitely worth tracking down.
