For my own waffle, I went straight to the top of the menu and ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The regular waffle was one of the best I've ever had; slightly crisp on the outside with a moist, tender center that held up well to the syrup and chicken piled on top. The chicken in question consisted of three huge tenders, lightly breaded and fried to a delightful crisp, then tossed in hot sauce. The result was a dish that was, like the peas and jelly, spicy, slightly sweet, and altogether perfect. The varying flavors and textures present in this dish were tasty, balanced, and impressive.

The truck is a project of Chris and Carmen Morse. The truck will serve beef, crab cake, and pulled pork sliders with sides of salad and sweet potato fries. For dessert, the owners plan to serve cupcakes is a variety of flavors like chocolate, vanilla, lemon, and red velvet.

Most Vancouverites know the best place in town to get a taste of the islands is The Reef. With popular locations on Main Street and Commercial Drive, The Reef packs them in with a laid-back vibe, great tunes and johnny cakes. Now, thanks to the wonder of the food cart, the Caribbean vibe is loose on the streets of downtown Vancouver. The Reef Runner is here and just in time for summer.
Both food carts make amazing gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and make them affordable, we’ve established that. But how do they shape up when it comes to the customer experience? Both carts appear quite different, with Taser being a tiny push cart reminiscent of your basic hot dog vendor and Mom’s being one of the biggest, nicest looking food carts in Vancouver. While they vary greatly in size and presentation, both of these food carts deliver top-notch customer experiences. At Mom’s, you’re always greeted by smiling faces, with Cindy and her team doing a fantastic job of feeding huge lunch rush lineups while chatting and getting to know the customers. Smiles and conversation are definitely complimentary here.
The salted caramel wasn’t overpowering, goes perfectly with the sweet apricot and was much more refreshing than I initially envisioned. I credit that to fresh and (when possible) local ingredients. My friend downed a straight-up Strawberry and judging by the fact that it was gone in about 6 pecoseconds, I can assume he loved it. The fan favourite so far has been the Raspberry Lime, a quenching delight that Johnny’s Pops sells out of regularly.
For the adventurous eater, this is good news. Options range from Indian to Japanese to Latin to burgers. But there are so many options it can be difficult to make a decision, so I'm here to help.
