Fire crews were able to quickly put out a small fire after a catering truck ignited into flames Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported at about 1 p.m. when the truck caught fire on Interstate 80 just west of Gilardi Road.

Cal fire crews responded to the call when flames extended out into vegetation, according to Steve Bradley, communications operator for the fire agency.

“It was a very small spot of vegetation,” Bradley said.

Crews cleared the scene by about 1:30 p.m., he added.

There were no reported injuries.
