Thousands of people packed the Food Truck Mash-Up in Overpeck County Park on Wednesday, sampling the varied menus of 15 mobile vendors, along with family-friendly activities including yoga and a drum circle.
In fact, so many people packed the event in the Ridgefield Park section of the Bergen County parkland that even more would-be visitors backed up on Teaneck Road for miles in both directions, police said. Some simply parked cars along the side of the Fort Lee Road exit from Route 95, officials said.
At one point, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority reported, about 75 cars were targeted for towing because they blocked emergency access to the park.
But a public announcement sent drivers scurrying back to their cars to avert that fate, authorities said. The event was produced by Exposure, a division of North Jersey Media Group, publisher of The Record.
