A series of food truck festivals is being planned this season at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, the home of the Brockton Rox.
BROCKTON – The Brockton Rox and Roll Food Truck Festival is coming to Campanelli Stadium, offering a taste of some of the best meals on wheels from throughout the state.
The food truck festival is taking place on three dates this year at Campanelli Stadium, offering live music, craft beer tastings and cuisine from local food truck vendors, with the South Shore Food Truck Association supporting the event. The first one is planned for July 20 from noon to 4 p.m., featuring beer from the Easton-based Shoveltown Brewery, along with food trucks such as Mom On the Go, serving up authentic grilled cheese sandwiches with some creative variations.
Brockton Rox owner Chris English said recently that the family friendly event is part of the team’s effort to provide entertainment that goes beyond balls, strikes, hits and home runs. It comes as the stadium established “The Living Room” area on the left side of the field, where people can gather during baseball games for some extracurricular activities, such as cornhole and shuffleboard, along with wood-fired pizza, television screens, living room couch setups and a bar serving up a signature alcoholic drink, called “The Salty Bird.”
“To us, this is an entertainment venue,” English said. “Sometimes we play baseball.”
The first food truck festival date will feature a concert by Afterthought, a three-piece rock band from Cape Cod, playing mostly ’90s and modern top 40 cover rock. The next two food truck festivals are scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. on Aug. 24, featuring music by BACK@iT, and Oct. 26, with The Jack Ash Band.
Tickets to the food truck festival are $5 at the gates, but $4 by presale online via www.happsnow.com. Event organizers said the craft beer tastings will take place in two sessions on each food truck festival date, from noon to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The Rox are also selling “VIP tickets” for $25 to get a craft beer tasting with Shoveltown Brewery held in The Living Room.
Food trucks are still being sought to participate in the event. The Rox said space is limited, but interested vendors are asked to reach out by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
