Basic Kneads Pizza has built a reputation as that wood-fired-oven-packing food truck, so what’s it going to be known as when it moves into an actual, walled, brick-and-mortar space in Golden? We’re just spitballing here, but we’re guessing it’ll be known as the new restaurant that makes awesome pizzas without having to tote around a massive mobile pizza oven.
After working the brewery circuit for years, Basic Kneads will open up in the former Halu Sushi & Asian Bistro space on South Golden Road sometime this fall.
“People would come to the food truck all the time and ask where they can find us again, so there’s certainly some untapped potential and additional demand for our product,” said owner Joel Bakken. “We chose Golden specifically because it is the community we have connected the most with in our years as a food truck operation. Everyone is out playing in the mountains, and then they head back down to town hungry and thirsty.”

The new restaurant will feature the same pizzas, plus an additional menu of salads, appetizers, desserts, beer, wine, cider and kombucha on tap. If all goes according to plan, the pizzeria will open early this fall.
