Miami's "Shao Roma" Food Truck

The food truck selection in Miami just got a little more interesting with the addition of Shao Roma today. Shirking the usual food truck clichés of tacos, burgers and sweets, Shao Roma brings fresh and authentic Romanian food to a truck stop near you. At first glance, Shao Roma looks pretty simple — no fancy wrapping on the truck, no street art, no LCD screens — just a white truck with the name in blue lettering.

That’s because all the effort goes into the food. Menu items include chiftele (Romanian meatballs made with ground beef and pork), mititel (sautéed ground beef, pork, and lamb), and Romanian fries (spuds topped with feta, garlic sauce, and fresh dill). Romanian pan crêpes are featured for dessert. The food can best be described as Middle Eastern meets Western European. Try some tonight at Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South in Cutler Bay, where Shao Roma will offer $5 introductory meal deals.

Here’s where the trucks will be tonight:

Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South will host trucks from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The showroom stays open for shopping (and real bathrooms). Trucks scheduled to serve dinner are Churro Mania, Clarabelle’s Cupcakes, Esther’s Caribbean, Grill Master, Wing Commander, and Shao Roma Romanian Fresh Food. 19825 S. Dixie Hwy., Cutler Bay

The Biscayne Truck Rally hits the street from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at Biscayne Boulevard and 48th Street (behind Publix). Trucks include Dim Ssäm à Gogo, Dolci Pecatti Gelato, the Fish Box, GastroPub, Jefe’s Original Fish Taco, Latin Burger, the MexZican, Miso Hungry, MonTaco, and Muscle Truck. Biscayne Boulevard and 48th Street, Miami

Alpha & Omega Church for the first time will host food trucks from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Trucks scheduled include Catered Bliss, Caza Crepes, Chef on 4 Wheels, Latin House, Sno Caps, Sugar Yummy Mama, and Wrapidito Yum. 7800 SW 56th St., Miami

For Japan: A Donation Rally will have Ms. Cheezious and Aaron’s Catering Express serving food from 8 to 10 p.m. Ten percent of proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross 191 NE 40th St., Miami
