A social-media driven effort to bring a regular food-truck event to Chandler may be getting the jump-start it needs Friday night.
A lineup of five food trucks plus a another selling women’s jewelry will set up at the southwest corner of Queen Creek and Dobson roads beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, in the Ocotillo area of Chandler.
As of Friday afternoon, trucks scheduled to participate included The Treatery; Knockout Dawgs; Duke’s Express; United Steaks of Cheese (arriving at 7 p.m.); Chocolate Von Brugge; and Ruby Fashion Mobile Boutique Women’s Jewelry, according to information posted on the Facebook page, “Chandler Wants Food Trucks.”
The page had drawn 900 likes as of Friday and several weeks worth of comments from residents supporting a regular food truck event, similar to those that take place in Gilbert, Scottsdale and Phoenix.
The Gilbert Food Truck Court, which also has a Facebook page by the same name, has grown in popularity during its Friday night event in downtown Gilbert. Food trucks also have been a popular part of Thursday night art walks in downtown Scottsdale and Food Truck Friday is a regular event in downtown Phoenix.
Earlier this year, a food truck festival was held at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on the Salt River Reservation near Scottsdale.
