Ridgefield is seeking opinions from residents and business owners about the affect food trucks and vendors have on downtown.
Two online surveys, one for consumers and one for restaurant owners, are available on the town’s website and ask about whether the mobile vendors detract from other businesses or should be permitted.
The surveys also ask whether people believe food trucks and vendors help draw foot traffic downtown.
In December, the Board of Selectmen put a one-year moratorium on new ice cream trucks, hot dog stands and other food vendors while it considered how best to regulate them. Among the regulations being considered are how many permits should be issued, where vendors should be set up and if there should be seasonal or time limits on operations.
Some on the board were concerned that food trucks could detract from existing downtown restaurants.
