The Cache Valley Mall in Logan is the next stop for the reality competition show “Food Court Wars.”
During the Sunday, April 13, episode, Submarino’s, a popular Salt Lake City food truck, goes up against Molly’s Kitchen and its comfort food menu.
The teams spent several days filming for the second season of the Food Network show, hosted by host Tyler Florence, in which the winner of each weekly episode gets a rent-free spot in a mall food court for one year.
The teams compete in challenges and then test, market and feed mall shoppers. The team with the most profit at the end of the day wins the prize, worth an estimated $100,000.
While the two Utah competitors weren’t allowed to discuss the outcome of Sunday’s show before air time, they were able to talk about what they served and the behind-the-scenes moments you won’t see on Sunday’s episode

Submarino’s » The team includes brothers Randy and Tony Marino and chef Brandon Ostendorf.
Menu » The same submarine sandwiches they sell on the food truck, including meatball, pulled pork and the signature “Not So Philly Cheese Steak,” made with Italian roast beef, mozzarella and provolone cheese.
Favorite behind-the-scenes moment » “We were all waiting for Tyler to announce the winner and there was this long dramatic pause and then he asks, ‘Is that the Bangles?’ The mall Muzak was playing so loud it was getting picked up by the sound crew. They had to call mall security to turn it off and then clear the whole area. It easily took an extra hour of waiting,” said Tony Marino.
Molly’s Kitchen » Caterer Michelle Jones was the co-owner of the Cake Farm bakery, which sold pies and cupcakes out of a vintage trailer on Utah’s Fruitway. Her partner is friend Lindsey Petersen.
Menu » Producers asked the duo to come up with more savory dishes for the show, so they decided to play off a “Molly Mormon” housewife theme, coming up with meatloaf sliders, individual chicken pot pies, tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches with avocado and havarti and, of course, cupcakes.
Favorite behind-the-scenes moment » When the team was back stage and Jones mentioned how handsome Florence was, forgetting that her microphone was still on. “We came out and the entire crew was laughing,” said Petersen.
