DALLAS, Aug. 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Wingstop Inc. (NASDAQ:WING), the award-winning wing concept with 785 locations around the globe, is spreading goodwill and feeding thousands of children this summer as they tour the United States with their Wingstop on Wheels food truck. Now, Wingstop is bringing the #WingstopTour to the city of San Antonio for the grand finale.

In June, the company kicked off the inaugural Wingstop Flavor Tour. The plan was to travel coast-to-coast in order to assist underserved youth and families with issues such as hunger prevention and safe summer programming by building and rehabbing playgrounds, community basketball courts and serving free food off their new food truck. With a desire to inspire others to do good, Wingstop gave control of the philanthropic tour to their fans by letting them choose where to bring the truck for the tour finale.
During a summer-long online voting campaign, Wingstop fans cast over 42,000 votes to bring the tour to cities all over the United States. After voting was narrowed down to the top five cities, San Antonio beat the cities of Houston, Sacramento, El Paso and Austin to claim the final stop.

In order to claim victory, Wingstop fans in San Antonio employed an effective guerrilla campaign to encourage support by sharing and linking the voting website on social media. Several San Antonio radio stations, including 94.1 KTFM, MIX 96.1 and KJ97, urged listeners to participate in bringing the tour to their city by encouraging voting and talking about the mission of the tour. The stations even encouraged a good-natured rivalry between the cities of San Antonio and Houston. Both cities swapped the first place position several times during voting.
Wingstop will bring the Flavor Tour to San Antonio from September 18 – 22, 2015, where the Wingstop on Wheels food truck will visit various community events and philanthropic organizations in order to leave a lasting impact on underserved youth and families throughout the city.
