The York County Board of Supervisors gave its unanimous approval to food trucks Tuesday night, passing an ordinance that allows the mobile food vending vehicles on developed and occupied private properties throughout the county.
Award-winning specialty food manufacturer, Stonewall Kitchen will host its second annual “Battle of the Food Trucks” on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Stonewall Kitchen Headquarters, back parking lot, 2 Stonewall Lane, York, Maine 03909.
Food options will include barbecue, Cuban and Asian fare, desserts, snow cones, and a variety of other “street foods.”
As proposed, the ordinance would deny a mobile food vendor license to any person who has been incarcerated for a year or more within the past five years; and prohibit operation within 100 feet of a restaurant or other establishment that sells similar products, with the definition being that 40 percent of their products are similar.
