The Plant, Chicago’s vertical garden, is hosting its second annual Food Truck Rally on Saturday, July 27.

Deemed offensive to Italian Americans, oddly, not Hispanics

Trucks can park anywhere zoned for commercial, industrial or mixed use, but would need to apply for a “franchise” from the city to park elsewhere. Each application would require council approval.

City officials say their first two Suwanee food truck events, held in May and June, were extremely popular, drawing large crowds.

Food trucks, long popular as lunch destinations and snack providers in primarily urban settings, have gained popularity in recent years as festival attractions and previous rallies at Rural Hill have attracted large crowds.

On Aug. 31 more than 100 food trucks will assemble at the Florida Fairgrounds in Tampa in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest rally, and word on the street is Miami is mad.

Each truck will be selling one menu item made specifically to pair with a Harriet Brew on tap. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest Heartland to benefit hungry families in Minnesota. Guests are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item.

There will be a number of food trucks located on the grounds offering everything from Asian cuisine to wild game dishes.

Admission is free. Donations are being accepted for the Community Food Bank of Citrus County during the event.
