Progressive Insurance has launched its 2nd annual “Flo’s Fabulous Food Truck Contest” at the National Restaurant Association Show today, May 16th. Geared towards people hoping to start a food truck business or new food truck business owners, entrants can submit to win $5,000 to help spruce up their vehicle.
Last year’s winner, Kim Baxter, owner of Orlando-based goodfood, used her prize money to make all the necessary updates to her truck, including a fire suppression system and fryer – allowing her to get her business “rolling.” These updates allowed her to almost double her profit margin.
Here’s how it works: Share a photo of your food truck or catering vehicle and submit a short essay on how you’d spend $5,000 to take your truck from drab to fab. Encourage your family, friends, and followers to vote for your entry and you could be the big winner. You can vote once per day, per email address.
The entry period is from 5/16/14 – 6/30/14 and the voting period is 7/1/14-8/31/14. The winner will be announced on September 15, 2014.
