This summer’s Food Truck Rally series has been extended through the months of September and October. Per the City of Urbana’s press release:

Thanks to the success of the first three events, the Downtown Urbana Lunchtime Food Truck Rally Series has been extended and will continue through the last Tuesday in October. Gourmet food trucks from around the Urbana-Champaign area will continue to converge on the Urbana Civic Center located at 108 E. Water Street on the last Tuesday of each month in September (the 29th) and October (the 27th). This series of events, brought to you by the City of Urbana Community Development Department, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

There will be both indoor seating (inside the Civic Center) and outdoor seating (under tents and at tables in the grass west of the Civic Center) and access to restrooms. In addition to the food trucks, performers will be stationed around the event to provide music and entertainment.

“Our goal was to get folks out of their offices and to Urbana’s Civic Center to socialize and enjoy a great selection of C-U’s finest street food,” commented Urbana’s Marketing Coordinator and Director of Urbana’s Market at the Square Natalie Kenny Marquez. “It worked, and based on the positive feedback from customers and food truck owners, we look forward to extending this series through October.”

There is no admission fee and this event is great fun for all ages. The final food truck rallies will feature a special promotion:

September 29th: Wear orange or bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank as part of Hunger Action Month. Anyone caught wearing orange or donating a non-perishable food item will be entered into a drawing for a pair of Illini Football tickets for an upcoming home game.

October 27th: It’s TRUCK OR TREAT this month at the food truck rally! Customers and food truck staff are encouraged to dress up in costume (please keep costumes family-friendly). Anyone participating in truck or treat will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of Illini Football tickets for an upcoming home game.
