Well, of course: heavy metal and hamburgers. It’s a combination born…well, probably not in Heaven. Headbangers are not into Heaven. They’re into the Infernal Regions. And though they don’t offer a Satan Burger, or Beelzebub Fries, on the Grill ‘Em All Truck, they do come close. This is Hair Band cuisine, with an edge of Heavy Metal Thunder. Food that’s born to be wild.
The truck, with its quasi demonic logos (they’re sort of “demon lite”) is mostly black and gray. It’s the creation of chef Ryan Hawkins (who’s done much of his cooking in the heartland, including a sting in Cleveland because, as we know, “Cleveland Rocks”) and former professional wrestler Matthew Chemus, whose claims to fame include the fact that he owns a megaphone, which he uses to crank up the volume when Grill ‘Em All stops.
The menu includes creations like the “Molly Hatchet” (a burger topped with sausage gravy, applewood-smoked bacon and maple syrup), the “Blue Cheer” (with Maytag blue spread and Munchos potato chips) and the “Waste ‘Em All” (marinated green chilies, pepper jack and beer-soaked onions). As for sides, you can get H100s (tater tots with roasted garlic and three cheeses) and double-dipped frites (with a truffle oil option). None of which sounds like a meal fit for Axl Rose. But what the heck – it’s all about attitude. As the truck says on its web site, it’s “here to fill the void that music and mayhem can not. Enter the realm of the burger.” Check it out on Twitter and Facebook.
