The Ann Arbor Farmers Market is hosting its very first food food truck rally at the Wednesday evening market on July 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. Five food trucks are participating, with cuisine ranging from doughnuts to vegan sliders.
“We decided to host food truck rallies this year because we wanted to give trucks and carts that can’t sell here weekly as a vendor at our evening market a chance to show off their skills to the Ann Arbor community,” said evening market manager Carrie DeWitt. “We are very excited to bring such a fun and exciting event to our customers and to enhance the already festive environment of the evening market.”
DeWitt said that two food truck rallies are scheduled for this summer, with the second one taking place on September 3, during the University of Michigan’s Welcome Back Week.
EAT Ann Arbor, Hello! Gelato, Petey’s Donuts, The Pita Post and Shimmy Shack will all be driving their food trucks down to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, 315 Detroit St. for the event, and there will be live music from Idle Hour and Isosceles.
DeWitt said they’re calling it a rally because they will have a gathering of trucks offering food in addition to the market’s regular vendors.
“We are hoping to bring together a large group of vendors and customers,” said DeWitt, “for a fun, family-friendly event.”
