CHAPEL HILL – The Town Council will hold a public hearing Feb. 28 on making it easier to operate food trucks.

“Word on the street is that Chapel Hill is too prissy and too dame-y to allow food trucks,” said 3Cups owner Lex Alexander, who wants to help entrepreneurs get easy answers and streamline the approval process.

Food trucks would boost the economy, let people test new foods, and are inclusionary, Alexander said.

Since he petitioned the council last year, Alexander said, he has gotten hundreds of e-mails from residents who want to start food-truck businesses. Crook’s Corner in Carrboro also plans to launch a truck, he said.
