CLEVELAND, Ohio — Wednesdays during the summer carry a special significance for anyone in the vicinity of Walnut Street in downtown Cleveland, thanks to a big weekly gathering of food trucks.
Crowds gather at Perk Plaza to sample the fares of the 20 or so food trucks gathered around the area, known as Walnut Wednesday.
We want to know your favorite food trucks across Northeast Ohio. Is there one particular truck you look for?
Nominate them for cleveland.com’s Best Food Trucks contest!
The nomination process is as easy as ordering a meal from your favorite food truck, only it’s free and you don’t have to stand in line! Simply leave us a comment below with the name of your favorite food truck, or send an email to best@cleveland.com. Let us know what you love about that particular food truck, or your favorite dish on their menu.
The only stipulation is the food truck has to be based in Northeast Ohio (Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Lake and Geauga counties).
This is not limited to Walnut Wednesday food trucks, so if you hit up one of the other weekly food truck gatherings in Northeast Ohio like Lunch by the Lake on the East Ninth Street Pier or the Chomp in Midtown, drop us a line about your favorite food truck there (or anywhere).
With a total of 65 food trucks roaming the streets of Greater Cleveland, there are plenty of great options.
Your nomination will help us kick off the first round of voting, starting next Monday, June 13. From there, online voting will continue in a bracketed style over a few weeks until the readers finally narrow it down to the single best food truck in all of Greater Cleveland.
Here is the complete schedule:
June 6-9: Readers invited to nominate food trucks for the contest. Send nominations to best@cleveland.com.
June 13-17: Readers will vote on nominated contenders in a large online poll to determine the eight finalists. Vote totals in this round will determine seeds for the bracketed part of the contest.
June 20-24: Readers will vote in the quarterfinals.
June 27-July 1: Readers will vote in the semifinals.
July 5-11: Readers will vote in the finals round showdown.
Monday, July 11: The best food truck in Greater Cleveland as chosen by cleveland.com readers will be announced.
