Chirba Chirba Dumpling, whose cheery yellow food truck has become something of a rolling landmark in Durham, is parking it for one night and teaming up with Aviator Brewing Company to open a pop-up restaurant in the Belt Line Station event center.
But don’t plan on feasting on Chirba Chirba’s trademark homemade dumplings. Instead, they’ll be serving up another Asian street food classic: skewered meats and other savory morsels, paired (optionally) with beers from Fuquay-Varina’s Aviator Brewing Company. Dubbed Brew & Skew, the event is planned as an outdoor grill celebration inspired by “Taiwanese night markets, Pacific-side grills, and campfires in remote China.”
The $25 all-you-can-eat event (beer pairings sold separately) is scheduled for Saturday, November 23 from 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Given the ephemeral nature of the pop-up – not to mention the fact that Chirba Chirba is one of the area’s most popular food trucks – spaces are sure to fill up fast. For more information and reservations, check the restaurant’s website ( chirbachirba.com) and Facebook page ( facebook.com/chirbachirba).
