For the next 18 Tuesdays, Fort Collins food trucks will have a home at City Park.

The FoCo Food Truck Alliance debuts its 2016 Food Truck Rally series Tuesday at the park, 1500 W. Mulberry St., featuring live music and about 15 mobile vendors weekly from 5:30 p.m. to dusk. The series is scheduled to run weekly through September 27.

Last year, the event was held every other week.

“So many people show up, we decided to just make it a weekly thing,” said Taylor Smith, a rally organizer who also runs Silver Seed food truck. “A lot of times last year, we would have people show up every week looking for the event.

“This also helps us spread out our crowd and make sure everyone gets fed at the same time.”

About 25 food vendors will rotate serving at the rallies.

“This is the calm before the storm for us food trucks,” Smith said. “We are gearing up for the busy season.

“We have a nice little, close-knit community. We kind of have to be. It’s a new scene and definitely not big enough to be at each other’s throats. We all try to be friends and help each other out.”

Each rally will have face painting for kids and free bike check-ins.

Many of the same food vendors will be at Thursday food truck rallies in the Coloradoan parking lot on June 30, Aug. 4 and Oct. 6. The first Coloradoan food truck rally in April raised more than $6,000 for the Food Bank For Larimer County.
