Thursday night in October is a time of competition including football, new television shows on competing networks and the Food Truck Battle at the Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino.
Five local food trucks will set up in the Silver Sevens parking lot from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday in October including Cousins Maine Lobster, Sauced, Bacon Boys Truck, A Gourmet Soiree and Oso Ono Shave Ice. Admission is free and those with a Silver Sevens players card (also free) can vote once a week for their favorite food truck for the chance to will $500 in free play in the casino.
Cousins Maine Lobster might be known first as one of the entrepreneurs to get a deal on ABC’s “Shark Tank” with Shark Barbara Corcoran. The cousins love all things from the state of Maine, especially lobster, and infuse their food choices with lobster including sandwiches, soups, entrees, salads and even ice cream. There are two choices for sandwiches: Maine Lobster Roll served chilled and Connecticut Lobster Roll served warm with butter and lemon. For a touch of the southwest, Lobster Quesadilla and Cousins Lobster tacos are available. For an entrée, Maine Lobster Tail served in a shell is the best of both worlds, upscale food in a causal atmosphere.
Sauced serves tapas with a gourmet twist. Big Easy Balls are literally two deep fried balls made of chicken, Andouille sausage, creamy risotto and garlic herb cream cheese rolled in panko bread crumbs and topped with one their amazing sauces. Porky’s Revenge is a sandwich with slow cook pulled pork topped with onion rings, cheddar cheese and a hot link sausage. Its Seoul Food Taco is made with slow braised Korean barbecue pork topped with sweet chili cucumbers and served on a warm corn tortilla.
Bacon Boys Truck are all about bacon featuring bacon-centric dishes. For breakfast at night, (this isLas Vegas), the Donut[Dot]Vegas breakfast sandwich features a Pinkbox doughnut cut in half and filled with bacon, fluffy fried egg and cheddar cheese. The Fluffernutter, made with crunchy or creamy peanut butter, is combined with bacon and toasted marshmallow fluff with the option of adding Nutella. The Aunt Matilda is a four-cheese grilled sandwich with bacon and the Stratton Oakmont is made with roast beef, bacon, Swiss cheese and Chipotle mayo.
A Gourmet Soiree is known for street foods, gourmet menu items, freshly squeezed lemonade and, for dessert, No Toaster Tart in a variety of flavors. It is described as Mobile Kitchen Solution/ Food Truck/ Film/TV Catering/Craft Service/Pop Ups. The menu for the evening is hand written with surprises each day.
Oso Ono Shave Ice is fluffy flavored shaved ice that can also be combined with rich ice cream. The portions are huge and the blend of flavors is practically limitless. Other ice cream desserts are available for dessert in a cone.
