Question: What is your story?
Answer:Hi-Five Doughnuts is Louisville’s first and only female-owned mobile doughnut shoppe. Hi-Five Doughnuts is a friendly, hands-on celebration of sweet indulgence and local pride. Founded in early 2013, we created a unique approach to the circular treat enjoyed worldwide. We let customers craft their own doughnuts from a variety of glazes and toppings. As we say, there is no wrong way to build a Hi-Five Doughnut. In other words, “Go nuts with our doughnuts.”
Q: What food do you serve?
A: Hand-cut, gourmet doughnuts. Our most popular doughnut is the caramel bourbon glaze with either bacon or candied pecans.
Q: How do people find you?
A: The most effective way to communicate is through social media and Gmail. In addition to our truck, we also take orders for delivery. These orders come to us through email and social media. We make sure we are always connected and taking pictures for current and future customers.
Q: What are the biggest rewards of serving food from a truck?
A: The freedom, absolutely. We are able to go anywhere! We love meeting new folks and introducing them to our doughnuts.
Q: What’s your beef?
A: Running out of gas — big beef!
Q: Which food truck inspires you?
A: We are members of the Louisville Street Food Alliance. Being a part of a like-minded community has helped us grow. In addition, we love Liz and Jesse Huot from the Grind burger restaurant (formerly a food truck) and Max Balliet from Holy Mole. They are great sources of inspiration and mentor-ship for us.
Q: How can Louisville grow its food truck culture?
A: We are new to the truck scene. Treating people as you want to be treated and having great food seem to move people forward.
Q: What is your mission?
A: Our mission is to create a product that makes people happy! We are staying true, by keeping Louisville weird.
