Thanks to its sleek design and motto of “simple dishes, fresh ingredients and big flavor,” Thoroughfare food truck was voted number 91 on Daily Meal’s list of this year’s “101 Best Food Trucks in America.”

“We’re excited to see the list,” co-owner Jessica Barley says. “We weren’t aware the voting was going on until we saw the results. It’s just nice to know we have regulars and locals who support us.”

Jessica and Neil Barley started the truck in 2013 with a shared love of food. “Our name Thoroughfare is a fun play on words. The word ‘thoroughfare’ means street and ‘fare’ means food. So it’s a fun way we can say we serve street food and keep it classy,” Barley explains. Since then, she says they’ve been surprising Greenville foodies with a menu that’s ever changing. “We can change our menu frequently. We have a lot of regulars. What makes that nice is they can come week to week and try something new.”

Thoroughfare is known for crowd pleasers like the tempura-fried “Mahi Mahi  Fish Tacos,” meatloaf sandwich, served with toppings like homemade pimento cheese or carmelized onions, and “Disco Tots,” tater tots smothered in homemade cheddar gravy.  And it’s that kind of innovation that continues to put Greenville on the map. “Any time our little truck can bring attention to Greenville’s food truck scene is exciting.”
