Sometimes crowd-funding schemes can make a difference.
Back in June, we told you about Drive Change, a food truck social enterprise that employs, trains and empowers young people (ages 16-25) who have recently come out of jail or prison.
After raising $75,000 through private sources, they ran an Indiegogo campaign to raise the final $40,000 needed to get a food truck into operation.
It took slightly longer than expected, but soon you can expect to see Snowday on the NYC streets.

Just two years ago, Jordyn Lexton was teaching a classroom full of teenage prisoners on Riker’s Island, New York City’s main prison complex. It was there she had the early inspiration for Drive Change, a social enterprise that aims to develop a number of food trucks that employ and train formerly incarcerated youth and advocate for their long-term future.
Following a year-long stint as a manager at Kimchi Taco Truck, and a successful Indiegogo campaign, Snowday will be opening in December.
