Take your weekend adventures beyond Center City this Saturday and check out the up-and-coming neighborhood of Port Richmond as the community launches its new monthly Second Saturdays block party on August 10, 5 to 9 p.m.
Just north of Fishtown, Port Richmond’s Polish-American and Irish heritage makes for a vibrant neighborhood with a deep roots that span several centuries.
On Saturday, the lively ’hood will be on display from 5 to 9 p.m. as the community rallies together, closing down Richmond Street between Allegheny Avenue and Clearfield Street for a block party.
Look out for food trucks like The Tot Cart, Gigi and Big R Soul Food Truck and Poi Dog Philly, as well as vendors of locally crafted brews from Philadelphia Brewing Company and Boston-born Harpoon ales.
Local shops like Sweets and Treats, Breathing Room Yoga, Krakus Market (the awesome polish supermarket) will be on hand to peddle wares, plus check out classic cars and live music.
Getting to the area is simple via bicycle, foot or by SEPTA’s 15 or 25 bus routes.
Busy this Saturday? This is just the first of such events slated to occur regularly in this eclectic, emerging neighborhood.
