Sweet Sammie Jane’s LLC—a bakeshop and catering business on Park Avenue—will open Rochester’s first dessert food truck in the coming weeks, officials said.
The company employs four people and expects to add a few more with the expansion. The dessert truck will focus on creme brulee, beignets, French macarons and other pastries, officials said. The truck will be available for private and corporate events and weddings.
“Rochester has a lot of amazing options when it comes to food trucks, but we realized there weren’t any specializing specifically in pastries,” said Angela Marmo, co-owner of the business. “Our inspiration revolves around the local demand for food trucks and carving out a niche that isn’t currently offered. We’ve had an existing retail store front for almost four years, and decided a food truck will give us a great marketing tool as well as a new avenue of growth and revenue.”
