Roswell, GA: Food Trucks Coming to Roswell on Weekends

Roswell can now boast its very own designated mobile dining site. Roswell River Food Truck Weekends kicks off July 20 at Don White Park on the Chattahoochee River. 

Three food trucks will be at the park from 11 a.m. to dusk Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer and into fall.

On opening day, two of the trucks, Pressed for Time and Hail Caesar are confirmed, said Greg Gordon, a partner in The Food Movement, which is implementing the event.

The third truck will be announced later this week, he said.

Pressed for Time specializes in paninis and Caesar salads, wraps and sandwiches are offered by Hail Caesar.

Other locations in the city were under consideration, said Gordon, who added that his company has been in discussions with Roswell Recreation and Parks about sponsoring a regular food truck for at least a year.

Don White Park was chosen in large part because it has ample parking, but also because of its riverside ambiance.

“Don White Park will be the most scenic food truck venue in the entire Atlanta region,” said Gordon.

The park has a beach volleyball court, dining pavilion, riverside picnic tables, kids’ playground, a canoe and kayak landing, parking and restrooms. A seven-mile biking, running and walking trail cuts through the park.

In business since 2010, according to Gordon, The Food Movement owns and operates Pressed for Time and Hail Caesar and is affiliated with 11 other trucks: Masala Fresh, serving Indian street food; The Fry Guy, Belgian-style street fries: Pretzelmaker; Champion Cheesesteaks; Poor Huey’s Hot Dog Company; Vintage frozen custard; Wrappers; The Healthy Food Nut Truck; Herschel’s Famous 34 Pub & Grill, which has a wide ranging menu of items from its Athens-based restaurant; Dottie’s Tasty Wraps; On Tapa The World, specializing in Spanish tapas; and the Great American Cookie Truck.

All of the trucks as well as others that are not under The Food Movement umbrella will be available to rotate through the River Food Truck Weekends, Gordon said.

His company differs from the one that runs the food truck nights in Alpharetta, Gordon said. “They are more of an event company. This is a little different because it’s more about being in the community on a regular basis. This is our first real venture into that realm.”
