San Antonio’s first food truck park will bid adieu this weekend during its final Food Truck Throw Down.
For the last time, food trucks will roll into The Boardwalk on Bulverde, located at 14732 Bulverde Road, for a two-day farewell feast on Friday from 6-10 p.m. and Saturday from noon-10 p.m.
Multimedia Marketing Manager Haley Rose Alvarez said the park’s parent company, Cruising Kitchens, decided to rework the space in order to expand its fabrication shop.
Cruising Kitchens – a nationally renowned custom shop that recently built the world’s largest food truck – plans on increasing its fabrication facility from 7,000 to 45,000 square feet.
“The growth of the food truck industry, and obviously we build food trucks at Cruising Kitchens, has promoted the growth of our company to the point of us needing a bigger shop,” Alvarez said.
But celebrity power is also in store for the up-and-coming business.
According to Alvarez, Cruising Kitchens signed a deal for a reality show to air in 2016, though she could not disclose further details.
