Eater scored an exclusive walkthrough of the sbe‘s forthcoming SLS Hotel South Beach and learned a few new details. Yes, there’s a food truck. But first let’s talk property layout. Guests enter through a recessed motor court filled with fruit trees into Jose Andres’ West Terrace Bistro slated to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Think coffee and food with a Latin twist. Continuing on, one will find reception on the left and an east coast outpost ofBar Centro on the right. The bar itself is composed of thin coral and has clear site lines into an open cold kitchen.
Next up, as one walks along the hotel’s long footprint, is The Bazaar (complete with 20 foot windows) on the right and Katsuya on the left, with their respectiveSaam and Dragon Lounges above them. The east coast Saam sounds like more of a VIP or flex space then its LA counterpart, meanwhile Dragon Lounge will serve as a traditional lounge.
Finally, enter the pool complex. The first pool will be lined by 10 air-conditioned cabanas with suites/bungalows above (the last designed by Lenny Kravitz). The second pool will be the home of Hyde Beach and, in addition to being open to guest of the 140 room hotel, will allow select non-guests in as well. Lastly, should guest at the pools or beach club want a snack, they can mozy on up to Jose Andres’ first food truck designed by Philippe Starck and a Latin graffiti artist, natch.
