There was also a Farmer Kim's Vegan Wrap, as well as a salad offering and the General Tsao's Burrito, the dish we feature on this week's episode of "Eat This!"
Our second favorite part of the dish was the spicy pork, which had a tiny bit of sweetness (from a mirin marinade probably) and a nice kick. It wasn’t too spicy, but just right.
The Mobile Global Bistro menu focuses on Mediterranean/coastal, Californian fusion and Asian bistro-style dishes such as Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches. Benson said she uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and incorporates “amazing” sauces and condiments with each dish — many of which she makes herself.
The zong zi came with a small container of powder that we sprinkled on. The powder tasted like crushed peanuts mixed with a little sugar. It went well on the zong zi, adding some sweetness and nuttiness to the sticky rice dish.
As for the cream gravy, it’s good, but it’s not the traditional Southern gravy we’ve had on chicken fried steak, biscuits & gravy, and chicken & waffles. That stuff will stop a train (or the blood from pumping to your heart)
Shanghai Sogo just hit the NYC streets this week, and they serve “Asian tapas.”
Whatever your style, here are eight can’t-miss trucks there to help your physique begin to resemble one.
Poi Dog Snack Shop’s menu contains both sweet and savory snacks, Hawaiian tacos and plate lunches. The two Foo Truck veterans dish out island foods like Spam Musubi, a World War II-era dish made of grilled Spam with white rice and a Nori wrap.
The Psy Bibigo truck is serving up Psy's favorite dish, bibimbap, and also a fried version along with dumplings. Caput also put his own spin on a dish using galbi, the Korean BBQ short ribs. He came up with a steamed bun sandwich stuffed with galbi, lettuce and a sweet sauce.
The food truck chefs will be creating a special "Ate on 5th" dish for the judges and guests to try. When guests buy the "Ate on 5th" dish from each food truck they will also receive discounts to participating area retailers, restaurants and bars. (The discounts will need to be validated at the concierge desk at the event.)
