After the first bite, it was clear the croissant lived up to the hype– with a soft and flaky texture, it was naturally flavourful and instantly melded with the freshness of the tomato and swiss cheese. The subtle sweetness from the jasmine tea complemented the delectable taste of the BFT.

The fresh poppy-seed Kaiser bun was barely toasted, leaving it light and squishy in each bite. The deliciously seasoned patty was smothered in cheese, and loosely topped with a slice of tomato, some lettuce and raw onions.

An hour before it began, the Food Truck Rodeo drew hungry hordes begging for crab burgers, crawfish po-boys mixed with squash and tomato pie – all of it cooked on the humming floorboards of four-wheeled vehicles.

Mayhem Gourmet Grilled Cheese is a new-ish food truck that makes its money parked on streets throughout Chico, hawking a staple of the 6-year-old's diet to the 18-and-up crowd. The truck has five variations on your mom's go-to snack, some of which are stuffed with frou-frou additions like jalapeno jelly and sun-dried tomato.

The pretzel roll was firm, grilled to the point of hot without charred stripes, and yet not too hard, so it still contrasted pleasantly with the softness of the melted havarti and tomato. The tomato’s flavor was brought out by the salt while the dipping sauce rolled over the tongue with a spicy friskiness, only to be cooled by the strong, soothing cheese.

Flavors range from the classic, with prosciutto, arugula, tomato jam, and a melted cheese blend, to tomato basil, combining tomato jam, provolone, arugula, and a spicy pesto.

His latest pizza is all about indulgence. The flatbread is topped with tomato sauced, foie gras, arugula, Mongolian onions, rosemary, mozzarella and honey.

One word of caution. The Everything Cheesesteak usually comes with tomato sauce, but we’re not big fans of tomato sauce on cheesesteak, so we asked for no tomato sauce. If we want tomato sauce, we’ll get pizza.
