ALBANY, GA. — Downtown Albany may soon have more food trucks to feed hungry workers on their breaks.
Downtown City Manager Aaron Blair approached commissioners about rezoning the riverfront area so that food trucks can park on the streets.
Currently food trucks can only park on private property. City officials hope that by rezoning the area more food truck businesses will come downtown.
“We just need to modernize our codes. They’ll be limited to certain areas so that they don’t compete with restaurants but that’s the biggest change that we are looking at making,” said Aaron Blair.
The issue will have to go before the Albany Planning Commission before officially going before the Albany Board of Commissioners for vote.
