San Francisco, CA – Mama’s Emapanadas made it to Zagat’s top 5 best San Francisco food truck restaurants in the Bay Area. ZAGAT.com, the world’s original provider of user-generated content, provides trusted and accurate restaurant ratings and reviews for thousands of top restaurants worldwide.
Mama’s Empanadas features oven baked gourmet empanadas and Northern Italian cuisine and salads. The recipes draw their inspiration from Christina’s mother, Ana, who spent her childhood divided between Italy and Chile before moving to the United States around 40 years ago. As a result, one of the empanadas in Mama’s menu is traditionally Chilean. Other recipes include a Cal-Italian fusion, including a trio of vegetarian empanadas filled with fresh eggplant, summer squashes, roasted peppers and Parmesan in a Chilean empanada crust. The truck also offers delicious soup and soft polenta with a topping that changes daily.
“I come once a week when they are here,” said Geraldine, who works in a building on Marina Boulevard near the parking lot where the truck stops frequently. “It’s really good. It’s fast, it’s convenient and they have a great variety.”
Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook allow people to track the truck’s location. Christina and her sister post the truck’s schedule online and are always looking for new locations to serve. The mobility of the truck allows Mama’s Empanadas to adapt to the market. Marina Boulevard in Brisbane and Oyster Point in South San Francisco are popular locations, although the truck frequents other Peninsula locations such as Redwood Shores and San Mateo.
