Fans of Rancho Cordova’s lauded seafood spot Rudy’s Hideaway will have something to look forward to this month as the restaurant rolls out its brand-new food truck, dubbed the Cruzin’ Crustacean. The truck features a commercial kitchen, playful illustrations of lobsters and even a custom license plate that reads “CRZN LOB.”
The menu will include some of Rudy’s classic dishes, like lobster bisque or clam chowder in a bread bowl, fish ’n’ chips, deep-fried calamari, a lobster roll on a dense torpedo roll and something called a “Lobi-pop”— flash-cooked, in-shell Maine lobster on a stick served with a side of coleslaw. Most items will be around $10.
And those of you who aren’t seafood fans won’t feel like a fish out of water. A juicy prime rib dip is also on the menu, with plans for a deep-fried apple turnover dessert, too.
“There’s nobody doing a full-on seafood truck out there, so we wanted to bring that to the area,” says Rudy’s owner Steve Ryan. “I think it’s going to be a home run.”
The Cruzin’ Crustacean will launch at the end of September, and you can expect to find it around the Sacramento area at business parks during the lunch hour, during SactoMoFo events and regional festivals. The truck is also available for catering at private events, Ryan says.
Look for daily updates on the truck’s whereabouts soon on Twitter and Facebook.
