Fish tacos, vegan cupcakes, gourmet pizzas, and barbeque ribs, all served from the confines of cramped, idling, and often garishly painted trucks.
The Durham Bulls will host the first ever DBAP Food Truck Fest as well as two nights of fireworks and an appearance from Brobee of Yo Gabba Gabba! in the upcoming five-game homestand starting July 10 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The beef in the smoked cheddar cheeseburger comes from MSU’s herds, either on campus or in the Upper Peninsula. The smoked cheddar and sharp cheddar (the official name leaves out the latter) come at least partly from MSU dairy cows and entirely from the MSU Dairy Store. The greens come from the university’s Student Organic Farm.
he lunchtime destination at the Marine Parade Grounds includes an ever-changing rotation of the city’s best food trucks, including dessert trucks. These dessert trucks bring a variety of sweets, including cupcakes, ice cream, popsicles, and even ice cream sandwiches made of cookies!
Of course, eating food out of a truck is a hit or miss because other than the Skinny Pancake Airstream, they can be rather scathing from a quick look.
In the future, dining services hopes to serve a wide variety of foods from many cultures and plans on doing more research and product development during the summer
Though the food is tasty, the prices are a little much, as The Butcher’s Son asks college students to dish out a nice chunk of change for some of their dishes. They also don’t offer a real “combo” deal – The Butcher’s 3-Way – but one that equates to the same price as ordering three separate sliders.
